The Jan Stolba Quartet features the brilliant Czech saxophonist Jan Stolba alongside 3 of Australia’s finest improvising Jazz instrumentalists: Bassist Nick Haywood, guitarist Fran Swinn, and drummer Ronny Ferella. Apart from being best known as a jazz saxophonist, Jan Stolba is also a poet and one of the Czech Republic’s most respected literary critics. Jan and Nick (who is based part time in Prague) play regularly together in the Czech Republic and have quickly established a strong musical connection. With both Jan and Nick in Australia at the same time, they have seized the opportunity to perform with the outstanding Fran Swinn and Ronny Ferella for this series of concerts.
